About Laurence
The biggest brands in the world still don’t know exactly where to put their marketing spend.
Laurence (YC W26) builds quantitative models for autonomous advertising on the internet. We’re replacing legacy rules of thumb with math and AI that guide where, when, and how much brands spend, with profit at the center.
Brands with $10M to $100M in annual revenue, including Pit Viper, Fi, and SPYLT, trust Laurence with their advertising. Customers typically increase profit by 15% to 40%. Laurence is growing at blistering speed.
We’re hiring a Strategic Account Lead to help turn that early traction into a company that serves the world’s leading consumer brands.
The role
A CMO will ask why revenue is up but profit is down. You investigate what changed, separate what you know from what you need to learn, and bring the right problem to our engineers. You explain the plan to the customer and stay involved until you know whether it worked.
That’s the kind of responsibility this role carries. You need to understand the business, get into the numbers, and earn trust through honest conversations.
You’ll own a portfolio of accounts from onboarding through renewal and expansion. In practice, that means:
- Get brands off to a great start. Understand their economics, agree on what success means, and lead onboarding with clear responsibilities and deadlines.
- Understand performance. Investigate changes, challenge assumptions, and tell customers what you recommend and why.
- Turn customer problems into product improvements. Give engineers the evidence and business context to solve problems across accounts. Help validate the result. Engineers own building and shipping the changes.
- Make the next account easier. Build the reporting, onboarding, and escalation processes you wish had existed when you started.
- Earn the next commitment. Make Laurence’s value clear, address renewal risks, and identify where a customer can achieve more with us.
You’ll work directly with founders, engineers, and brand leaders. You’ll learn to translate business needs into product decisions, understand what makes customers stay, and build the systems that let a company scale. The decisions you help make will show up in both our product and our customers’ businesses.
What you bring
You likely have 1 to 4 years in account management, customer success, strategy consulting, implementation, or startup operations. We’re especially interested in what you’ve personally made happen:
- You’ve owned a customer relationship or important client deliverable and can explain the result you achieved.
- You can take messy data into Excel or Google Sheets, check your assumptions, and explain how revenue, spend, and margins affect profit.
- You’ve presented a recommendation to customers or senior stakeholders, handled pushback, and secured agreement on what happens next.
- You learn unfamiliar software quickly and can investigate an issue well enough to give an engineer useful evidence.
- You’ve delivered work involving competing deadlines and people across teams.
Experience with technical products, Amazon advertising, performance marketing, or ecommerce is useful. We welcome exceptional candidates with less experience who can demonstrate these abilities.
How we work
We’re a passionate, multi-disciplinary team from top tech companies (Google, Meta), quant (Jump Trading, Five Rings), and consulting (BCG).
We care more about the truth than who is right. If you think a founder’s assumption is wrong, say so and show your reasoning. Expect the same openness when someone challenges yours.
We move quickly and take responsibility seriously. Grit shows up in the follow-up, the second investigation, and the difficult conversation you don’t put off. Agency means taking a useful first step and asking for help before you get stuck.
We’re honest with each other, own our mistakes, and help each other improve. We care about the people relying on our work.
